Ferrante lasci\u00f2 una guarnigione a sorvegliare Lucrezia, alla quale non rimaneva che cedere Somma all\u2019angioino conte Jacopo Piccinino e rifugiarsi a Nola al quartier generale di questi, per poi seguirlo nel principato di Taranto. Pass\u00f2 poi, attraverso la Dalmazia, a Venezia, dove cerca dal doge mediazione col re di Napoli per riavere i suoi possedimenti. Ferrante le voleva concedere Otranto, ma ella rifiut\u00f2 con sdegno. L\u2019anno della sua morte, il 1479, la vedeva a Roma, l\u2019ultimo suo esilio.
