Prima di partire militare collabora con la Gazzetta del Popolo di Torino e anche durante i lunghi mesi passati sul fronte prosegue il suo percorso di formazione grazie a commilitoni, in seguito divenuti amici di una vita, come gli scrittori Gino Montesanto, Mario Pomilio e il pittore Enrico Accatino. Alla fine del conflitto riprende l’attivit\u00e0 giornalistica collaborando con varie testate, sia quotidiane che periodiche.\u00a0Nel 1949 pubblica il suo primo libro, La provincia addormentata, che gli vale la medaglia d’oro per l’opera prima al premio Strega di quell’anno. L’anno successivo Gli eredi del vento gli frutta il Premio Venezia per l’inedito.\u00a0Nel 1951 si sposa e si trasferisce a Napoli, citt\u00e0 che ama e in cui vivr\u00e0 fino alla morte.\u00a0Negli anni sessanta \u00e8, con Mario Pomilio, Domenico Rea, Luigi Incoronato, Gianfranco Ven\u00e8 e Leone Pacini Savoj, tra gli animatori della rivista letteraria “Le ragioni narrative” di cui sar\u00e0 anche direttore. Continu\u00f2 anche il suo impegno giornalistico come critico cinematografico e letterario e per un decennio ricopr\u00ec la carica di vice segretario del Sindacato Nazionale Scrittori.
\n\u00c8 stato uno scrittore molto prolifico e apprezzato sia dal pubblico che dalla critica che ne am\u00f2 subito lo stile ricco e pastoso. E anche il cinema lo scopr\u00ec, dando vita a una fortunata versione cinematografica del libro Una spirale di nebbia.\u00a0Nei suoi primi libri (La provincia addormentata , Eredi del vento e soprattutto Figli difficili) Prisco descrisse la borghesia partenopea, con tutte le sue debolezze e i suoi limiti, fra cui l’incapacit\u00e0 di proporre per Napoli alternative concrete a una situazione di stagnazione sociale e economica che ne impediva lo sviluppo. Successivamente lo scrittore, pur continuando a sviscerare il mondo delle classi medie della sua citt\u00e0, cercher\u00e0 di inglobare nella sua analisi anche i ceti pi\u00f9 popolari, senza per\u00f2 mai introdurre nei suoi romanzi quelle connotazioni macchiettistiche e di folklore che saranno tipiche di gran parte della letteratura napoletana del dopoguerra.\u00a0Lo scrittore amava trascorrere le vacanze nella villetta di Vico Equense, da lui chiamata affettuosamente \u00abla casarella\u00bb.\u00a0Nel 1996, vince il Premio Cimitile, con l’opera “Il Pellicano di Pietra” (Rizzoli).\u00a0\u00c8 morto a Napoli il 19 novembre 2003.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
