Il BASSORILIEVO di ORFEO EURIDICE e HERMES esposto al Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Orfeo, sulla destra, ha appena infranto il \u201cnoli respicere\u201d (\u201cnon guardare\u201d), impostogli dagli Inferi per poter portare via la sua amata che si trova al centro. Il viso di Orfeo, ormai inconsolabile, \u00e8 l’espressione del dolore. La sposa Euridice con un gesto\u00a0 pieno di tenerezza e rassegnazione, indicato anche dal piede destro rivolto indietro, gli accarezza la spalla e il marito a sua volta le accarezza la mano, una carezza che \u00e8 anche un inutile tentativo di trattenerla. Le teste inclinate servono a delineare la tensione e la commozione che accompagna il commiato. Alla sinistra c’\u00e8 Hermes nella sua veste di Psicagogo, il benevolo accompagnatore delle anime nell’Oltretomba, che vorrebbe lasciar andare Euridice, ma non pu\u00f2 farlo, perch\u00e9 costretto a compiere il suo inesorabile ufficio. Intreccia delicatamente ma anche con decisione il braccio destro di lei, la trattiene accanto a s\u00e9, Euridice non pu\u00f2 pi\u00f9 proseguire. Verr\u00e0 ricondotta di nuovo negli Inferi, ma questa volta per sempre.<\/p>\n
