Il pensiero artistico letterario e religioso attinse quindi dal grande patrimonio culturale del bacino del Mediterraneo tutte le basi culturali, per poi trasformarle e adattarle alla capitale dell\u2019impero. Roma parlava e pensava con mille gesti e con mille acquisizioni sensoriali, tutte mutuate dalla vicinanza e dalla interazione con le nuove, conquistate culture.
